# Sidebar Navigation

> Most of what you need on Shapes, Inc. can be found in the sidebar. This guide walks through what the sidebar is, how to open it on different devices, and what you can do from each section.

    # How to Find Something Specific

      <Accordion title="How do I find a shape?" icon="shapes">
        You can find a shape in a few ways:

        * Click **New Chat**, stay on **Shapes**, and search by name or username.
        * Click **Search...** in the sidebar to search across chats, messages, Shapes, and people.
        * If you are already in a chat, click **More actions** → **Members / Invite** → **Add participants**, then stay on **Shapes**.

      <Accordion title="How do I start a new chat?" icon="shapes">
        You can start a new chat in the following ways:

        * Click **New Chat** in the sidebar.
        * Choose the smart helper Shape option to start right away with a useful Shape.
        * Pick a Shape from **Shapes**.
        * Switch to **People** if you want to start with a person.
        * To make it a group chat, open **More actions** → **Members / Invite** after the chat opens.

      <Accordion title="How do I create a new shape?" icon="shapes">
        You can create a new shape in the following ways:

        * Click **New Shape** at the bottom of the sidebar.
        * In a chat, click **More actions** → **Members / Invite** → **Create shape**.

      <Accordion title="How do I edit my shapes?" icon="shapes">
        You can edit a Shape from its profile.

        Try one of these paths:

        * Use **Search...** to find the Shape.
        * Open a chat with the Shape, then go to **More actions** → **Members / Invite** and open the Shape from the participant list.
        * Click a Shape's avatar or name in a message if it appears in the chat.

        Once you are on the Shape profile, open its menu to edit settings, behavior, and memories.

      <Accordion title="How do I find my rewards?" icon="shapes">
        You can get to your rewards in the following ways:

        * Open the sidebar, click the menu button, and select **Rewards**.
        * In a chat, click **More actions** and select **Rewards**.

      <Accordion title="How do I manage premium, credits, or payments?" icon="shapes">
        * Open the sidebar, click the menu button, and select **Premium**.
        * In a chat, click **More actions** and select **Upgrade**.

      <Accordion title="How do I see all my chats?" icon="shapes">
        Use the chat list in the sidebar. You can filter it with **All**, **Unread**, **User DMs**, **Private**, and **Social**. You can also use **Search...** to find a chat.

      <Accordion title="How do I organize my chats?" icon="shapes">
        Long-press a chat on mobile, or click **More** next to the chat on desktop. The options can include rename, mute, mark as read, invite, archive, or delete.

        Open the sidebar, click the menu button, then select **Account** or **Settings**.

        Open the sidebar, click the menu button, and select **Help**. This opens support.

      <Accordion title="I can’t find something — what should I do?" icon="shapes">
        Use **Search...** to find chats, messages, Shapes, and users. If you still need help, open the menu and select **Help**.

    # Complete Sidebar Walkthrough

    ## **The Sidebar**

    The sidebar is the main navigation menu in Shapes, Inc.:

    * **Desktop:** The sidebar appears on the left side of the screen.
    * **Mobile:** You can open the sidebar by swiping from the edge of the screen or tapping the arrow icon in the top-left corner.

    From the sidebar, you can search, manage chats, start new chats, create Shapes, and open your account menu.

    # **Search**

    At the top of the sidebar is **Search...**. Use it to find:

    * Chats
    * Individual messages
    * Shapes
    * Other users

    Use **New Chat** when you want to start a new chat. Use **Search...** when you want to find something that already exists.

    ## **New Chat**

    Click **New Chat** in the sidebar to start a chat.

    From there, you can:

    * Choose the smart helper Shape option to start right away with a useful Shape.
    * Stay on **Shapes** and pick or search for a Shape.
    * Switch to **People** and search for a user.

    After the chat opens, use **More actions** → **Members / Invite** to invite friends, add people, or add more Shapes.

    ## **New Shape**

    Click **New Shape** at the bottom of the sidebar to make a Shape.

    ## **Your Chats**

    Below the search area, you’ll find a list of all your chats.

    ## **Chat Actions**

    For each chat:

    * **Mobile:** Long-press the chat

      **Desktop:** Click the three-dot menu on the right side of the chat

    From here, you can:

    * Rename the chat
    * Mark it as read
    * Mute notifications
    * Archive it
    * Invite others
    * Delete it

    ## **Chat Filters**

    Use the filter buttons above the chat list:

    * **All**
    * **Unread**
    * **User DMs**
    * **Private**
    * **Social**

    If you cannot find a chat, switch back to **All** or use **Search...**.

    ## The Main Menu (Hamburger Menu)

    At the top of the sidebar is the menu button. This opens account and app options:

    * **Premium** – Manage premium and credits
    * **Rewards** – Redeem rewards for available items
    * **Explore Fandoms** – Browse fandom lore pages
    * **Account** – Edit your profile and account
    * **Personas** – Switch how you appear in conversations
    * **Settings** – Adjust notifications, theme, privacy, and more
    * **Help** – Open the support chat
    * **Add account** – Add another account
    * **Log out** – Sign out on this device

    Your username is also displayed at the top of this menu in case you ever need to reference it.

    ## Chat Menu

    Inside a chat, click **More actions** in the top-right.

    Useful options include:

    * **Members / Invite** – invite friends, add people, add Shapes, or create a Shape
    * **Share chat** – share the chat
    * **Search** – search inside the chat
    * **Mentions** – see mentions
    * **Rewards** – open rewards
    * **Upgrade** – manage paid options
    * **Settings** – open the full chat menu

    In **Settings**, you can find pinned messages, media and files, participants, notifications, personal AI preferences, AI configurations, chat appearance, and moderation.

    If you ever feel lost, remember: **Search...** can help you find chats, Shapes, messages, and users.
